Pros

You will get to learn and work on some most complex systems and will get to work with smart people. Internal transfers were easy.

Cons

It all depends on team and manager. Some teams have high oncall and your life will be gone. If your manager is not very good (good is not enough), your career will go for a toss. Choose team and manager wisely because manager is like the captain of your boat and it is a race.

Amazon is huge and teams are very independent. In general it's a great experience with lots to learn and resources to do so.

Cons

Given the many teams and the level of independence they have some may be hard to work, or failing to get the resources they require. Usually, because they do not know how to ask for them. If you are in a team that seems overworked, change to another, most are not.
