Pros

Amazon is a place where you get to learn and showcase your skills which is beneficial and has direct impact on thousands and millions of customers around the world. At Amazon every employee is a leader and you are given freedom to take complete ownership of the work you do from day 1. My manager was fully supportive and was always looking for opportunities to highlight the work I do.

Cons

As a new hire, you are expected to explore internal resources and get yourself adapted to the process and culture as soon as possible. Senior folks in the team are involved in their own work and as a new hire the individual needs to spare additional time to figure out things themselves. Once in, it's not too hard because of well documented wikis and other resources.

Pros

The company offers amazing benefits to its employees. The principles it operates on are incredible. The culture and diversity is valued and respected to the core. There is an endless sea of things to learn and grow. The organisation has open discussions about everything - disagreements, progress, successes and failures.

Cons

Not a con but it can be intimidating to start at Amazon because the way it operates is very and totally different from all the organisations I have worked with. I say this in all the good sense but there is so much you feel like you don't know. At the same time, your peers are so accomodating and do not expect you to know it all. Learning is expected, of course.
