Pros

* Compensation and stock are very good * Entrepreneurial and innovation focused - though not as much as it used to be * If you want to learn AWS deeply, there is no better place. * A lot of smart people really do work at Amazon, so you can learn so much and make great connections.

Cons

* Directionless and chaotic environment, everyone is doing their own thing. No unity of purpose. * Gate keeping by decision makers. Very hard to get new ideas considered and developed - when everyone is trying to be an "innovator", almost no one really becomes one. * Long work hours if you want to be an average performer, much worse if you want to be a high performer.
