Pros

Pioneer in industry. Always at the forefront of new technology. Good pay if willing to work for it. High performers are financially rewarded. Performance based pay increases. One of the big tech companies and a good name to have on your resume experience if looking for work elsewhere.

Cons

Stack ranking performance, which causes a poor culture of burnout and politics. Operations seem to appear as second-class citizens compared to corporate. Org/team and timing within company dictates opportunity/speed for promotion based on the amount of 'projects' one can use and/or positions within that team one can fill i.e you can be the best and move mountains in your role but if you don't have a 'project' to display this with and if no higher roles above you open up/are vacated then promo is only a pipe dream. Politics and how well you can vouch for yourself also dictates growth... competence and knowledge in role has little to do with it. High performing individual contributors get worked a lot in this space and as a result leads to burnout. Pareto principle is true when it comes to team output. Golden handcuffs is also true, especially when compensation is heavy on vesting stocks.
