Opportunities, flexibility in career choices. If you started as a tester, there are good chances you will continue to development, then step by sales department role and find yourself in a completely different career place. Cons
Promotion based on a chance rather then on actual performance. You can be promoted because someone left, got fired, etc, it is not related to how exactly you perform on a daily basis, rather then on a chance.
