Pros

UK benefits are excellent, and worth the slightly uncompetitive salary. Processes do improve, albeit slowly. You can progress quickly if you are experienced or willing to live in the office. The right projects (high visibility) can be very rewarding as they can be used to effect changes which would normally have taken too long.

Cons

The bureaucracy is overkill, there are too many levels of management. Inter departmental communication is poor. Experienced staff are all too often promoted away from where they can make a real difference, leaving unexperienced staff to attempt to continue.

Pros

Benefits, relative stability. I attempted to resign once, but was given a large pay increase if I agreed to stay. Things didn't really change, but I was basically paid to stop whining and get back to work. That's cool I suppose.

Cons

There are some cultural challenges to overcome. Amdocs has offices all over with the world with it's global HQ in Israel. It's difficult to advocate US software engineering practices to a large organization with thousands of developers in places like India, China and Cyprus.
