Pros

Hands on learning, exposure to new ideas, get to try new things.

Cons

Pay is pretty low, but my boss was flexible, so my workload didn't feel overwhelming compared to other corporate settings. Has to work other jobs on the side to pay for basic needs.

Cons

There are no cons with this role. It was a great opportunity to gain valuable experience and grow in many ways.

Pros

Experience in the education sector, great if you are considering going into teaching. Working with students always has its joys (if you like kids!)

Cons

In Washington state, the program has changed over the past years in order to keep securing grant funding. They have adopted their own curriculum and it created tension between what the member is expected to teach vs. the content that teachers and reading specialists need support with. This lead to the school district in my area deciding not to continue hosting WRC members in their schools any more.
