Pros

Traveling to many NPS, bureau of land management, and federal historic sites. Contact with many federally employed professionals in the field. Good culture and organization.

Cons

Communal home (not mandatory, and only if you don’t like that).

Pros

I loved being outside all the time, camping with my crew and working hard every day. The places I went on hitch around Arizona were gorgeous, each different from the last.

Cons

The schedule was a little offputting, having 8 days on hitch working and then 6 days off just to hang out in Flagstaff, and I had trouble getting used to it. It pays very little. Crewleaders are a mixed bag, but were mostly good. Living in a house with 20 other people was exhausting and sometimes gross. Difficult if you're an introvert.
