Pros

Great place to get engineering experience. Many opportunity to work on lots of different projects, different aspects of engineering, different locations. Meet and work with contractors, engineers, architects. Flexibility in work hours for some employees. Employee owned so they aren't caught up in the almighty share price. And they still make money and have been growing steadily. Good investment in equipment.

Cons

Very little communication within my department as far as work load management or department goals. Minimal training - you are expected to find your way on your own. Some Administrative Assistants are rude and unhelpful. Lots of hours required during the construction season to keep up with the work load. We are losing the young engineers due mostly to low pay.

Pros

Diversified in Geotechnical, Materials and Environmental Projects. Good coworkers and management staff. Perdiem policy is good for out of town travels.

Cons

For young graduate engineers the department should focus more on providing technical training from senior engineers. Field Engineers should be capable of working long hours and extended travel
