Pros

Good benefits and the city of Chicago is very nice. The ethics department where I work is very flexible and allows a good family-work balance.

Cons

poor pay and poor opportunities for promotion. The AMA has a large lobbying arm, so ideologically, they are quite skewed to protecting physician interests rather than patient or public health interests.
