Editorial is a shadow of what it used to be

- a feeling of purpose in supporting physics - excellent work-life balance - in a industry that shamelessly underpays editors, APS offers an OK salary now that editors can leave anywhere in the US

Cons

- commercial publishers mindset is taking hold of editorial operations - benefits have been decreasing over the last 5 years - editorial has no sway over the society anymore, it's more of a top-down approach - income and impact factor have become a focus of management - zero chance of career growth now that MBAs are coveted for top positions in editorial (management prefers to hire from outside than to train employees) - a bit of tokenism in diversity and inclusion - compensation is not proportional to amount of work
