Pros

American Red Cross has a long reputation in the humanitarian field. Most of its income comes from its biomed (blood transfusion) program. Under its current CEO, who is quite competent, it has sorted out its problems with the FDA, and is moving towards better management.

Cons

The American Red Cross, especially in comparison to European RC societies, is risk averse, and highly reluctant to innovate. Despite a heavily female workforce, it harbors some misogynists, including one who was fired for improper behavior with female colleagues. Those looking for pension plans should look elsewhere. The COVID pandemic has cut deeply into Amcross's corporate income, which comes largely from blood drives.
