Pros

Working at the Red Cross has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my career. The organization is deeply mission-driven, and you truly feel the impact of your work every day. The recent wildfires in LA only reaffirmed my commitment to this work—we mobilized quickly and compassionately, and I was proud to be part of that effort. The team is passionate, collaborative, and supportive. You get to meet incredible volunteers and partners who care deeply about making a difference.

Cons

It’s a large organization, so sometimes things take time—but that’s nothing compared to all the benefits of being part of such impactful work.

Pros

The varied schedule can be flexible and shifting week to week. Sometimes early morning sometimes late morning start time. It depends. This makes it a flexible job if you need supplemental income from a part-time job.

Cons

Some mornings can be brutally early. Physically demanding job so a long day can be tiring. Rarely 40 hours a week. Sometimes average is 33 to 35 hours per week.

Pros

Working here you will feel that you are making a direct impact to help people who need it. It's a great job for someone who just needs a position until they can find something better.

Cons

There is little room for movement within the company. As an overnight worker currently, there are moments I have been shafted for a new position strictly because it would be too difficult to find a replacement for that position. Employees are also "forced" quite often and your PTO is likely to be declined quite often.
