--Long read ahead but if you are seriously considering this company, please read-- I worked for ATD for 3 years as a Customer Service Representative, so I know very well how this company functions. And there should be a warning out there for those that are seeking this position at ATD, as well as any other position. As a CSR I was subject to many things that I would like to address with importance and urgency. I believe the best way to go about this review for ATD is with a list. 1. As a CSR you are bottom of the barrel and treated as such. You are not treated as well as other positions (ex: delivery driver or warehouse). Yet we are the face of the company. A CSR is the most miserable job you can get at ATD. 2. You will be controlled in every way possible. And when I mean every way, I mean right down to your bathroom breaks. Every single moment of your 8 hours is controlled. You are treated like a criminal. You are at risk of losing your bonus if a customer keeps you over your break. That’s insanity. 3. You will be harshly judged on your calls. There is no room for human error. Your score is not about what an amazing experience you provided the customer. But it will be about did you breathe too loudly or did you say thanks instead of thank you. It should also be mentioned that there is no consistency in the grading. It all depends on what grader you get. These graders are not there to ensure excellent customer service, they are there to shave money off your bonus to save the company money. That is it. The QA manager should have been replaced years ago but hire ups know that they are doing their job by saving them money by taking yours. 4. They do not care about their customers. Look at ATD as the Walmart of tires. When someone says "I am never shopping here again," does Walmart care? No, and neither does ATD. Last thing ATD cares about is getting tires to their customers. They care about getting the money where they can. The lack of respect for the customers business and livelihood is disgusting. 5. The lack of diversity is sad. There is not a single person of control in customer service management. And this has been called out publicly, yet 2 years later there still is not a person of color in management. And if you have the skill of speaking another language, forget being paid more. Not a single cent more than others. 6. Women are paid less than men. This is something that I realized and brought up many times. And the replies I would get were just anger. Anger at those that revealed their pay and threats of their termination. Of course I refused to disclose these people. And people are allowed to talk about their pay. 7. Your mental health does not matter to them. Within my 3 years there I had to take several leaves due to this company deterating my mental health to the point that I would be physically ill on top of feeling like I was losing my mind. I brought these issues to HR and they brushed it off many times. Especially when I was being personally victimized by a new grader. I brought documented evidence of this victimization yet nothing was done. This grader is still within that department and doing the same to others. This grader should have been trained better, reprehended, or terminated for the way she treated me. 8. If you think that working with other departments will be organized, you will be disappointed. The warehouse (only a few are not like this) will treat you like you are an idiot and an inconvience when the only reason you are having to contact them is because of them not doing their job right. They do not have to answer for their mistakes, but you have to take the call and suffer verbal abuse by the customer. Clearly there is a reason that this company had to file bankruptcy. They are losing vendors and customers in droves due to their lack of taking their business seriously. You will get several calls a week where a customer will stop doing business with them. Google how much in debt they are and how much cash they had on hand. Its laughable. Please do yourself a favor and find another customer service job. Do not take this position or any others with ATD. I am writing this review because I honestly care about others (hence why I work in customer service) and I do not want anyone else to get hurt by this company like I did. The reason I stayed for 3 years is because they trapped me with pay and insurance. That trap is now gone because insurance is out of this world due to the bankruptcy. They make it to where you wouldn't be able to find another call center job that could financially provide what they do. So do you stay and provide for your family even though you are going out of your mind that carries over to the time you are not at work? Or do you take a pay cut for your own sake putting your family in a bad situation? I had to put my family in that bad situation. We struggled for months but the moment I decided not to step foot near that computer again, I felt free. In every sense of the word. Because of this, I know exactly what you are going through trying to find a job. It took me 4 months to find one. But even if you are desperate, do not work for ATD. Find a place that treats you like a human being, not a number. ATD could care less if you died, you are 100% replaceable. ATD is the worst company I have ever worked for and I regret every day that I stayed.
