Pros

Total compensation depending on role, and good benefits

Cons

Interesting conversations had with talent acquisition staff regarding their points of view on hiring. Regarding integrity, be sure to do your homework on the Pros as well as the Cons—there's plenty of public data out there and this is definitely not an exhaustive list of the flavor of cons that I'm not proud about as an alum: - $2.2M settlement for discrimination - Title VII David Fredericks v. Amgen, Inc. - $762.1M settlement for illegal kickbacks - United States ex rel. Kelly v. Amgen Corporation - etc., etc.,

Pros

Good benefits, like weeklong summer and winter shutdowns, 401k matching, and remote work. Fellow staff are highly educated and experienced. Good work life balance. Several of my colleagues are able to take care of their kids and still get all their work done.

Cons

Pay is just OK. Very few chances for career advancement and development. Upper management wants to replace US based staff with AI and offshoring. Slow decision making and general lack of urgency or innovation. Management is careless. Job expectations are unclear.

Pros

The company has a great corporate culture. Folks really enjoy being here, feel connecting to our broader mission, and the scientific innovation is second to none. The benefits and pay are respectable.

Cons

Teams can be unaligned at times and Silo’d. It takes the right individual mindset to bridge those gaps. If you are the type of scientific mindset that is able to think macro and think about the big picture you will do well here. Resources do tend to be constrained, and currently the workload is heavy … with a broad expectation that AI/Automation can help bridge the gap (without a significant investment in additional staff). Not sure if that vision is realistic.
