Cons

I have been working at Amica for several years. Day in and day out I show up to work thinking things are going to improve because every time I attend a meeting in home office all they talk about is fixing the culture and improving the work life balance. Unfortunately, it's ALL TALK to pacify you in the moment; somehow the message stops at home office it never gets to the branches. Therefore, when you return to your branch it's the same old thing. They work you like a mule. They set unrealistic expectations and aren't afraid to crack the whip when they feel you have not met your goal. The company prides itself on delivering high quality customer service; however, the quantity of work that each person has makes quality nearly impossible. It's not if they aren't aware that they are spreading their staff too thin the problem is they don't care. How can a company focus on building enduring relationship with the customer but doesn't care about the high turnover of their employees.

Pros

401K matched dollar for dollar. able to earn days to add to vacation time.

Cons

Favoritism. Promotions are not based on years of experience but based on the click you belong too. Some employees are over worked while others can socialize through out the day. Management has a way of politely insulting a worker.

Pros

Nice office, upgraded computers, anticipated phone upgrades, pays lip service a "good culture". Offers flexibility where it benefits the employer, such as offering entry level customer service representatives 37.5 hours as full time at $14/hr (27,300 base salary), which is the equivalent $13.13/hr at a 40/hr per week employer. To be completely honest, during my tenure employees were allowed to work over 37.5 hour minimum with pre-approval. Employees could also forego unpaid lunch breaks which further shortens the work day.

Cons

The culture "talk" is used to justify unfair management behavior. Like many places the management is ignorant or complicit when a leader abuses subordinates. A sycophant will be rewarded; independent thinkers and confident personalities will be targeted.
