Pros

Decent pay if you have been there for a while. Decent medical benefits. Great co-workers.

Cons

The big push is on sales. The company gives lip service to customer service. The customer service reps are no longer valued. The reps have a work load that is back breaking. The managers hid in their offices all day and pretend everything is great

Pros

Good benefits package. Headquarters in Rhode Island win best place to work in RI a lot (no chance of any branch winning that!).

Cons

Compensation is not competitive. Raises based on performance are pitiful - you have to be promoted to receive any substantial increase. Promotions are less based on your work performance and more on who you know. This isn't coming from a bitter employee who was passed over, but is actually built into the system. The policies, heavy workload and lack of appropriate compensation work to break down motivation and create detractors in the workforce. New college graduates are hired several times a year to manage teams of people who have been working at Amica longer than the kids have been alive. Even if the kids are natural leaders, thats a recipe for intense dissatisfaction on your front lines. You cannot be promoted to management level if you aren't willing (or able) to move, regardless of your performance and experience. Amica demands a ridiculous level of personal sacrifice for mediocre compensation.
