      Pros

      You can do whatever you want on a day-to-day basis as long as you complete the minimum. This is beneficial if you are driven... There is a collegial environment for technical people.

      Cons

      There are many people who are doing the bare minimum and few people who are striving for excellence - particularly in business management. It is extremely difficult to advance one's career here. Wait for someone to die...

      Pros

      - supportive environment - decent benefits - technical folks can advance in technical roles, don't have to reach a dead end if they don't become managers of others. - mostly the company seems to "get it" that its people are its most valuable asset. - stable: no huge swings of growth and shrinkage of workforce.

      Cons

      - management uneven. Sometimes a brilliant engineer isn't a great leader or manager. - tight budget control can make it very difficult to hire the right person at the right time.
