      Free 2 cases of beer

      Managers in IT have no idea about IT, all they care is their Belts programs. which gives them promotion. New Managers have no knowledge how business works. They never heard of applications that their teams are supporting and after one, two years still they have huge gap in knowledge. This incompetency is hugely preventing smart decision making when working with business due to lack of understanding how business is supported by IT applications.

      Great opportunity to learn and implement 6 sigma lean manufacturing principles.

      Cons

      No work/life balance. Prepare yourself to work a minimum of 11 hours per shift. 8hours on the manufacturing floor and another 3 to 4 doing paperwork and going to meetings.

      Pros

      The benefits package good. The industry overall is fun. There are many perks; incentives, trips, events--must seek them out. In-person training is very good.

      Cons

      Work-life balance minimal, 'gotcha' culture, difficult to guage upper management strategy & goal-setting due to high turnover (5 direct superiors in less than 3 years), 'ready, fire, aim' transitions & lack of support with problems, responsibilities escalate without compensatory adjustment, used/recycled equipment in constant need of repair, self-gratification for promotion prominent, relocation compensation very slow-moving process, frequent double-up/retraction in direction & planning, 70hr work-weeks common (salaried).
