Business Outlook
Pros
Good health insurance, generous time off, supportive & flexible work teams (depending on the service area). Meaningful work. After many years of paying far below market rate, finally taking steps to address pay gaps across the board.
Cons
Very little diversity in the workforce and minimal efforts to recruit BIPOC staff or incorporate DEI initiatives (bringing in ethnic food trucks is fun but not a substitute for implementing policies to protect marginalized employees). Minimal transparency from leadership, starting with the County Board and trickling down from there. No cost of living salary increases in over a decade. High turnover rates and little opportunity for advancement in most areas.
