Pros

My commute is reasonable (big company, local office) Pay is reasonable, but widely varied across roles

Cons

Time off schedule is poor, mandated days count against your pool. Sales goals are out of reach, so bonuses are not paid. Underwriters do not try to get the business, just do paperwork Customer service reps are dedicated. No career path, no mentoring, no support, no overtime Marketing does nothing fresh and exciting. Sales thinks they do it all. Carrier partners in certain areas are horrible (difficult to sell / service) Computer systems are atrocious HR thinks they rule the world, no support

Pros

Some departments offer flex-time scheduling, work from home opportunities, and/or travel opportunities. Generally, there is not much micro-managing, although it may depend on the manager.

Cons

There is not much of a team atmosphere. Aside from work-related interaction, there is hardly any socializing or interactions.
