Apigee is run by CEO's boys, whose credentials are secondary to acquaintance with him. Apigee hasn't focused on building good platforms inspite of having some good engineers. This is largely because of CEO's impatience, impractical deadlines and wrong leaders. A disproportionate portion of the company are leaders, we have various groups called Leader Ship Team, Build Team, Indian LeaderShip team, Extended Leadership Team etc. This is a weird phenomenon for a small company and can be attributed to Chet's boys coming from Big companies. The transition from a small to mid sized company has failed miserably so far. The company claims to be customer oriented, but that doesn't translate stable platforms and fire fighting is the norm. Apigee claims to be a fast growing company but employees' bonuses are delayed or deferred. Engineering organization in Bangalore has been Annhilated and it is matter of time, the same happens in US. Employees are very dissatisfied and the managers don't seem to care. Huge Disparities exist in Salaries and stock options between leaders and non-leaders. Politics, favoritism and heavy handedness are norm here.
