      Bad management, good people

      Pros

      Good work = good compensation. The salaries here are good and fair with market. Work/life balance is also good as long as you have the right people on your side.

      Cons

      Upper management in IT is clueless. I have to constantly educate VP-level, but the information never makes it to the top, only to get lost and not addressed. At this point, C-level are only out for their bonuses and have been whacking away at IC's in order to make budget which results in very top-heavy orgs with no foundation to support the business. No upward mobility and no "job of choice" as touted.

      Pros

      Good benefits, generous vacation time, great people, rewarding work. In certain departments, some room for growth. In some departments, flexible work schedules are an option.

      Cons

      The uncertainty of the for profit education sector, layoffs happen frequently.
