Pros

I have a super manager. He helps me understand how my projects tie back the overall product and company strategy and lets me run with my ideas. I get feedback, guidance and assistance when needed, but I don't feel like anyone is hovering (like my last employer...). The asks are big and we're asked to deliver on aggressive feature and quality targets, but I personally love the challenge. My peers push themselves as hard as I push myself which is great too. Also, based on support tickets and feedback from our Tech Support team, our customers really seem to love the products we build which is what it's all about for me.

Cons

Wish we had more engineers! We're in a very competitive market with strong competitors and while our roadmap feels on target to me (our customers and our tech support team give engineers lots of concrete product feedback), it feels like we're not making as much progress as we could if we had a larger team (or just plain more teams!). I know we're trying to hire, but I feel we could be doing more there. Also, product management feels understaffed and/or over-worked as they don't always have the details mapped out as soon as they could to help us in Dev figure out the solutions.

Very thoughtful and insightful input - thank you! Hiring anywhere is hard - hiring in Boston, especially engineering and other technical talent is doubly so. We've done really well (perhaps better than our fair share...) since this originally posted, but it remains a challenge for sure. Bottom line: AppNeta provides a fun, balanced, challenging and very well compensated environment for engineers and we want as many as we can physically hire ... AppNeta loves engineers! :)
