Stay Away- Toxic Leadership

Pros

There are some truly amazing people at Appian, pay is fair and benefits are also decent

Cons

Company actively lies to their employees, building a huge culture of distrust and toxicity. Founders talk a big game about company culture, but apparently fail to realize it's a two way street and are disconnected from reality. CEO went from being extremely in-touch when COVID happened and did a complete 180 in my last year there (I left on my own and was not laid off although had friends who met that fate through direct lie from the c-suite).

Thank you for sharing your experience and feedback. We’re glad to hear you had the opportunity to work alongside amazing colleagues and found value in the compensation and benefits offered. Those are important parts of the employee experience, and we appreciate you highlighting them. That said, we’re truly sorry to hear that your trust in leadership and the culture was shaken during your time here. The challenges of balancing tough decisions while staying in touch with employees’ day-to-day realities are not lost on us. We’re actively working on ways to connect our leadership team with employees more intentionally (CEO Office Hours, Ask Me Anything with Leaders, Forums) and we intend to communicate with more transparency and consistency to build trust. It’s a two-way street, and your perspective serves as an important reminder of how vital transparency and consistency are in maintaining that trust. I appreciate you calling attention to these areas and offering candid advice. Your insights are critical as we work to align our actions more closely with the culture and values we strive for. Thank you again for taking the time to share your perspective.
