Cons
Employees make less than the minimum wage. Employees often have to work doubles multiple days within the week in order to make a decent income. Hard work, dedication, and going above and beyond are not rewarded or acknowledged. A raise, upward mobility, the potential to move up in position, particularly when it comes to management, are not prioritized, and tools or resources to help employees move up the ladder are not offered. Workplace culture enables malpractice, bullying, unfair treatment of its employees, resulting in many employees choosing financial security over unjust mistreatment. Employees are asked to play multiple roles without proper compensation. For example, an employee might be asked to clock in as a Server and work as a Carside Specialist; however, because they are clocked in as a Server, they are making $2.13hr instead of what they would be making as a Carside Specialist $7.25hr. The Healthcare package included in Benefits is costly, and most employees cannot financially afford it; therefore, it's inaccessible to many employees. Remarkably, the workplace is very diverse. However, as it typically goes with the conversation of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Diversity does not equal inclusion, and there is a significant lack of inclusion practices in the workplace culture, not to mention the long history of racial profiling, employee mistreatment, abuse, homophobia, and transphobia connected to Applebee's.
