Talent being wasted

Pros

There are some great people that are eager to learn and lend a helping hand. Everyone outside of management is a realist and works extremely hard. Buildings are nice, and you get lots of discounts in rsm. Best thing I can say is it's a good place to start and a dream place for process and manufacturing engineers

Cons

Smoke and mirrors. They give a vibe that everything is fine but it isn't. Management says everyone should do everything when that just doesn't work. And the pay is terrible, even by lower industry standards. Benefits aren't good. There are talented engineers that are reduced to pushing paperwork. Nepotism is at large over there and it is the most oblivious company I have ever worked for. Does not know how to manage its employees and unless you brown nose and completely drink the koolaid, they will identify you as 'not fitting within applied culture' and take action. I think this place is good to start your career at but for heaven's sake please don't spend the rest of your life over there unless you are related to the hilal family.

Less talk more action

Pros

Lots of hands-on experience, continuing growth and success of company, opportunity to advance quickly for those who are motivated, business model is focused on reducing cost of healthcare and improving patient outcomes, which the company definitely does. Moderate benefits.

Cons

Politics and favoritism. Management talks a lot about company values and ideals but the corporate culture doesn't represent these things. I've seen people fired/not fired for questionable reasons. Management doesn't do much to try and retain excellent team members, so turnover is high. Growth is outpacing ability to train and develop leadership properly.

Pros

The training on anatomy and products are good.

Cons

There doesn't seem to be any long term plan for this company, with the exception of energy which apparently has been talked about for 6+ years. Any success the company has had has come from them pricing themselves way below the competition. Now that the competitors are as big as they are and the products Applied has are considered to be commodities, competition is either dropping prices to match or raising pricing on devices doesn't have to prevent hospitals from switching. Furthermore, Applied's products are incredibly cheap, so do not expect to make very much money. Commissions are seriously a joke.
