Pros

My background is not public accounting, so I can't compare Aprio to other large accounting firms. But I can honestly say that the leadership team at Aprio cares about employee satisfaction and professional development more than any other company I've ever worked for.

Cons

Benefits (e.g., 401k) are below market.

Pros

I have been with Aprio for 4 months now and wanted to wait a little while before writing a review to make sure their culture stayed consistent - I can honestly say this is the best job I've ever had! Their culture is very fine tuned - during the interview process, it was clear that the most important aspect of hiring was making sure the new employee was a good culture fit, and they do a great job of consistently hiring employees who work well together and have a positive and caring attitude. Everyone is so outwardly friendly, welcoming and helpful. After having come from several toxic work environments, it felt too good to be true at first, but after having been here for several months, I can say that everyone I have met is genuine. I am a remote employee and my time is completely respected. I am able to work whatever hours I need to to meet both my work and family commitments, as long as we all communicate our status. We are encouraged to take PTO (which is unlimited) and the holidays are very generous (this week we have off for the entire first week of July, Thanksgiving, and a 4 day weekend for Memorial Day and Christmas). My direct supervisors trusts me to work independently, but is always available to provide career guidance and growth. The tech stack is awesome! We are giving the tools we need to succeed. In past jobs, management has been too penny pinching to provide access to software that would make our jobs easier, but not the case here.

Cons

The only suggestion I currently have is to offer more visibility and opportunities for collaboration. My role is fairly siloed, so I work alone quite a bit and would love to be a member of a larger team, if for no other reason than to have a little bit more day to day interaction with coworkers. But, Slack is frequently used to share tidbits throughout the day so this is a minor complaint. Additionally, the organization structure is different than a typical accounting firm (at least in the outsourcing division). This is good and bad, as it allows individual growth for all, but sometimes you don't know where your path forward is specifically going to be, even though there is a lot of room for growth.
