Pros
People with no prior healthcare or technical background can start working as consultants and learn valuable skills such as working with EMRs, SQL, databases that are easily transferable to many different roles and projects. Healthcare is one of the fastest growing industries and there is plenty of opportunity. Coworkers are smart and come from top schools. Most are nice and friendly and spend time together outside of work. Schedule is flexible. As long as you get your work done, you can have a more flexible hours.
Cons
Career paths are almost nonexistent. Management has been trying to hard to create more structure but it has been difficult because selling and staffing strategies can be often random. Some people spent years on the same project while others get more lucky and have exposure to more things. Quick advancement is possible but it is usually dependent on playing politics rather than merit. There always seem to be a struggle at the top and the company keeps changing its management structure to accommodate different interests.
