Gone downhill significantly in the past few years.

Pros

I work with some of the best people in the business. The benefits are amazing.

Cons

My department has been reorganized at least 4 times in 2015. As a result, on top of so many other people being laid off, we lost a lot of team members. Still others were forced into new roles that they did not sign up for. Systems were prematurely put into place with the latest reorganization, causing quite a bit of discontent. Incentive bonuses were cut for my department (and potentially others), on top of a salary freeze, so many of us are very underpaid. Morale is at an all-time low, and our direct leaders are confused as to why. That demonstrates the severe disconnect between leadership and employees.

Pros

ARCADIS has the best people in the industry; our technical aptitude is second to none. Work-life balance is appropriate and better than the majority of similar companies. ARCADIS focuses on the Fortune 500-type clients and has one of the best client portfolios in the industry. The benefit/salary packages are better than average. Historically (and hopefully as we move forward) you can have a secure career with upside at ARCADIS. The diverse portfolio and business lines allow for a very unique and engaging experience. Opportunities such as Quest and GlobalShapers are fantastic and not typical of the industry. Again - Best people to work with in the industry. Identifies the problems/challenges appropriately (however needs to be more proactive). Attempts to focus on career growth for employees although the economic climate makes that increasingly difficult.

Cons

Lack of transparency when making sweeping decisions. Management appears to be reactionary to market conditions and numbers; not proactive and thoughtful. ARCADIS needs to reward high-performers, especially junior level staff, more. ARCADIS is too fixated on margin as we receive significantly better than other consultants; however this conflicts with the opportunity to gain more of a market share with our clients. Layoffs are a necessary evil; but selection of staff is confusing. Typically the 'problem' staff tend to be sheltered from the culls.
