Leaves a lot to be desired. Poor work-life balance

Pros

WFH is commonly accepted Flexible(ish) hours Projects can be very interesting Diverse expertise and dedicated individuals

Cons

Arcadis touts “employee first” policies, but in practice it’s always clients and leadership first. Highly bureaucratic structure. Benefits fall below what you might find elsewhere within the industry. PTO starts at ~3 weeks per year (accumulated), increases by 1 day a year. 2 floating holidays and 7 federal holidays. No sick days—gotta chew into limited PTO for that. Office remains open during the holidays. Salary is below industry standard and lacks transparency. Merit increases chronically lag behind rates of inflation. Upward mobility/promotions are used as a carrot for people willing to work ridiculous overtime and/or take on managerial responsibilities no single person should ever have to bear. Otherwise, career advancement moves at a snail’s pace. Max 4% 401K match. Work-life balance is exceedingly difficult to achieve. A cheery work culture/discourse around health and safety masks an outdated work ethic that rewards self-sacrifice. “Always online” culture. Expect regular emails late into the night or on weekends. Feeling overwhelmed and unwell? Better snap out of it fast, else you have to use one of those precious PTO days. Icky one-upsmanship of who stayed longer in the office/who worked more overtime. Overtime rarely pays out. Management prioritizes billability and persistently under-budgets and under-staffs for projects in order to remain competitive. The tacit expectation is to quietly under-bill your own work. Career progression is a mixed bag. The work at Arcadis is interdisciplinary and in theory, one could move in many directions—but most teams work in siloes, and in the end your teams’ project needs 100% dictate the kind of things you’ll end up learning and doing. This may vary somewhat by team/manager. Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is considered a core (recent) value but not much to show for it. Senior staff tend to be stuck in their old ways and often dismissive of new talent and/or inflexible about real change.

OK Company, with bad pay

Pros

Flexible working hours with good people and benefits.

Cons

Unfortunately, flexible hours is true only some of the time. I have worked 6 plus months of 75 hour weeks, without time and half, just more regular time so the money is not great. With working so many hours my personal life basically stopped for 6 months which is not good as well. Pay is not good for the industry. The CEO had a meeting and talked about how well the company was doing and how profitable it was but employees did not see any of it. My experience was making well under market rate and being promised rises and it wasn't until I told them I was leaving that they finally wised my pay, by 30%. My question was why it took me leaving before they raised my pay? They don't value you until they think they are losing you. When I looked for a 1 bedroom apartment in the area I could not afford it because they need 3 times pay. With a college degree and 4 years experience I a company should at least pay me enough to afford an ok 1 bedroom apartment. There are good people that work here but unfortunately that they are leaving for higher paying jobs and thus they people left are working too hard and are not the best people. It is hard to also advance in the company, and those that do get promoted it is often because they are bad and cannot be trusted with field work or things which cannot be covered by someone else.

Pros

remote work allowed no other "Pro"

Cons

False / Fake Senior Management team, very cliquish and liars who show zero respect for others with looking after themselves their prime agenda. Hired on false pretenses. Terrible work environment. Poor place for new college placements as they have no program in place, employee needs to find their own work to stay "billable" . Would highly recommend to steer clear
