Pros

Working where you're going to school is nice, especially when it pays for your tuition. Also, the health insurance is some of the best I've seen. Getting to know the faculty means that there are good networking opportunities.

Cons

Low pay. So much depends on the professor you're working under. The trickle-down stress from professors is intense. Most people are not "industry ready" so work tends to be sub-par. Good opportunities are rare.
