Following suit of RTO with no evidence it'd help the company, with clear objections from the whole company including VP level. Completely broke trust towards the leadership if there's any left from the layoff. Linkedin posts and software engineer career site still claim itself to be a remote first company.
The RTO announcement is poorly written and extremely tone-deaf. The policy is also ridiculous that employees in remote locations get company-sponsored vacations to fly-in every 6 months for 3 days given the company's financials, while local employees need to pay out-of-pocket and must spend up to 3 hours a day commuting. VP of HR wisely ran off before the dumpster fire started.
Essentially, there's no trust either way: employees no longer trust the leadership, and the leadership evidently does not trust the people they hire.
