Different Groups at Arup operate and manage very differently. So workload, projects, over-time, recognition and promotions/salary can be very different. There seems to be little core structure for team and line management processes and procedures, and where line managers have minimal experience and guidance lower grades can suffer in progression and understanding.

-Culture is highly conservative (as are many leaders). -Progression difficult in many teams at certain levels; deadman's shoes etc. -Frequently lack of project planning resulting in working weekends to deliver etc. -Pay often below competitors in 'cash' amount.
