Pros

Great for grads and apprentices Great for people with families in terms of attitudes to working from home and generally being flexible. There are good middle-managers who are hungry to do more and evolve teams, bringing about new work.

Cons

Too kind to a fault- lots of people do nothing and can comfortably hide in larger groups. A culture sometimes of not being honest enough with reprimands because of people being afraid to overstep a boundary. Too kind to a fault. Low Pay compared to building services consultancy competitors by average £10k-£15k. London office is good, well stocked and well made for working. Plus work is available too. But the regional offices are a different story form what i've heard. Alot of second chances. You would have to be pretty awful to get fire or even put on a PIP. Trying too hard to cater and please everyone. Work life balance at the moment not good: too much work, too many good technical engineers leaving over pay and too many inexperienced people left with middle management to pick up the pieces.

Thank you for your detailed feedback. We appreciate your positive comments on our graduate/apprentice programs, flexibility, and the dedication of our middle managers. We also hear your concerns about accountability, compensation, and work-life balance. We strive to foster a supportive environment with clear expectations and regular feedback. Our compensation structures are continually reviewed to stay competitive in the engineering/consultancy sector, considering our unique ownership model. We recognise the challenges of maintaining work-life balance, especially during peak project periods, and remain committed to supporting our members' well-being through various initiatives and flexible working options. Your perspective is valuable as we work to make Arup a rewarding place for everyone. - The People Team
