Pros

Asia Society Texas Center is one of my favorite places in the city of Houston! I previously worked here, and then returned after finding that none of the other local non-profits were as special as this one. The team culture here is amazing and we all have a very "can-do" attitude. It has been my experience, that there is great support given and many opportunities for growth are presented as you begin to master certain skills. Although, I have seen some staff members come and go (mainly to pursue higher education, which is strongly encourage by Senior Management), there is a dedicated staff that has served our community for many years. As our community continues to become even more diverse than it has ever been, our programming could not be more exciting and relevant given the time. Employees here often receive the great benefits of attending this programming at no cost should their be room, which is an excellent perk. In addition, for all full-time staff the benefits package is extremely generous and comes at no cost to employee at the base level. Finally, I can honestly say we work with a team of transparent, kind, and giving professionals and are guided by a Board that is beyond generous with their time and resources - all of them experts within their given fields. Its truly an amazing place to work with great people. Finally, I remain grateful to be employed by an organization that encourages work life balance (they are not just "saying it" either) and acknowledges the realities of familial demands allowing flexibility as needed.

Cons

I do not feel that we have any major cons, however, as a non-profit that has a newer history in having a permanent space there are challenges associated with having a smaller team (meaning you need to have team spirit in tackling some of our major initiatives). After working at many different sized non-profits, I can honestly say that the staff size of a little over 30 is personal fit however, given my utmost desire to expand my skills and grow.
