Years ago, I would have said one of the best companies to work for. Great environment, morale was up, people were happy. Yes, they never paid the salaries that are comparable to the rest of the companies out there, but the atmosphere and benefits package was well worth taking a pay cut to work here. Then, things have gone down the hill, and they still continue to.
Assurant has been giving all this talk about "keeping their talent" but what they are really doing is kicking their talent out the door. Senior management has become a nightmare, and morale went from upbeat (few years ago) to non-existing. It doesn't matter how good of a job you do, you are still never good enough. Senior management is never happy with anything, and will stab you in the back without blinking. There are very few members of the senior management that are worth it, rest are absolutely clueless and have no idea what they are doing. You can keep telling them the right thing, but they don't listen and still make the wrong decision. And then, instead of telling you that they will listen more next time, they turn around blame it on you and kick you out the door.
And as far as how the senior management got in their position? I absolutely agree with one of the posts I saw on here. It's not because they were qualified, it's because they knew someone high up who got them the job, and regardless of how bad they are, not only that they are still here, but they get promoted on top of it all. It is becoming very "top-heavy" at Assurant, since all the good hard workers are either leaving the company, or are getting fired for no good reason, but we can always use more VPs and Directors around here, since they "do all the work"?!?!?
Don't ever think you can work your way up at this company, unless you know someone or were hired high to begin with (as in a senior management position). I could continue to write more, but it is just not worth my time.
