Learn a lot as an intern. Have some choice of projects. Friendly coworkers.

Cons

Sometimes too hands off. Need to provide more intern management.

Great coworkers, good company mission. Perks awarded for healthy lifestyle choices such as using mass transit and exercising.

Governmental entity so budgets and pay are tight.

Pros

Many companies claim to offer work/family balance, when in fact they really do not. However, ARC really does value work/family balance and puts their money where their mouth is. Most positions are allowed to telework and/or do a compressed work week with one day off every other week and if you have ever been in Atlanta traffic - you understand how important this can be for someone who commutes every day. My colleagues do also genuinely care about each other. Great Executive Director who really seems to care about the people!

Cons

Management staff could use management/leadership training. You don't have to be mean, cold and overly critical to lead others. Could learn a lot from the fairly new ED who takes the work very seriously, but also loves the people.
