Pros

- many offices + remote-first work (best of both worlds?) - good pay and benefits, PTO easy to take - Australian culture, more progressive if you're looking for it - Investing heavily in creating a solid remote-first culture

Cons

- Recent performance management system to stack rank - Culture took a dive with new engineering leadership - Teams aren't co-located, so could be tough to onboard and learn if you want tight mentorship and teamwork

Pros

Great and professional people. I met many really smart individuals there, and it was an honor to work alongside them. Very flexible workplace approach - fully remote or hybrid if you want. Great offices. Very strong compensation package Great technical challenges and scale.

Cons

Bad work/life balance: a lot of priorities and lack of long-term planning (last 3 months we worked with data migration in fire, because it wasn't added to the initial migration process from on-prem) Absolutely not a team: - If the candidate complains to the interviewer, it becomes hell. I supervised an interview. And candidate absolutely with no reason complained about it. So it looked more like a panic in the company, and I had to prove that the interviewer was good. It's a luck that I supervised it. Otherwise cannot imagine a sanction for the interviewer. One. ONE candidate complain (without a real reason) -> butt pain. - I heard about a case when people lost their jobs for doing some mistakes with customers. Mistakes as experience for growth? Not about Atlassian - I heard about silent layoffs with bad performance reasons. Right before bi-annual reviews (not after).

Culture has gone sour

Pros

Compensation is competitive; if you have a good manager then life can be good; leftover good culture vibes from the early days still resonating

Cons

Overall culture is now mini-Microsoft, politics and backstabbing galore. Cut throat review process being used not only to get rid of under performers, but also as a political tool to get rid of high performing people managers don't like or feel threatened by. If you get a toxic manager there is no protection against mistreatment or fabricated reviews. Company management doesn't seem to have a good handle on how to evolve, has adopted a take it or leave it approach to employees.
