Great place to join for fresh graduates who are technology oriented people with interest in IT and software development. A very good learning ground with good projects and contemporary technologies to work hands on. Reasonably good work environment and low to moderate communication barriers with the management. Also there are good onsite opportunities if you have a not too bad fortune. :)

Cons

Very low on compensation and increments. Even with a best in class appraisal and ratings, the monetary increments are usually quite low.

Pros

I started my career from Syntel (Pune/Mumbai) and had a fantastic project to start with. Syntel gave me a chance to work with a team of 80+ (great managers and team members) and this has been a confidence booster. In couple of years of my stint with Syntel, I have seen our team running through a numerous pressure cooker situations and been able to come out with flying colors. This has been truly a team effort and this has been one of the greatest lessons, which keeps me ahead of the race and win from all situations.

Cons

Management needs to understand concerns of the employee and address the reasons of an outgoing employee.

Pros

Since most of the accounts are pretty big, it allows you to get a better understanding of system as a whole. Supportive environment and good review process. A lot of onsite opportunities. One gets an early shot at client handling and its mostly independent without senior interfering.

Cons

Extended working hours in case you're looking for 9 to 6 job. Some projects are on older technologies and its very difficult to move from one project to another.
