Worst company I've ever worked for in my career

Pros

The biggest pro: the people on the ground. My peers were consistently talented, supportive, and collaborative. They’re the only reason Auctane was tolerable. The office was nice as well and had a pretty solid snack selection.

Cons

Auctane is an environment dominated by relentless pressure, unrealistic expectations, and incompetent executive leadership that feels fundamentally disconnected from the day-to-day reality of its employees. The influence of Thoma Bravo's ownership is unmistakable. Monthly board reporting is an all-consuming cycle - by the time you finish one reporting period, you’re already deep into explaining the next. There’s no breathing room, no opportunity to step back and improve processes, just a constant churn that burns people out quickly – agnostic of what department you’re in. Work-life balance isn’t just poor, it’s nonexistent. Long hours are the inferred expectation, not the exception, and there’s little acknowledgment of the toll that takes. Promises made before merit cycles consistently didn't come to fruition - in my experience this was due to budget constraints (classic PE) or flat out lies from leadership. On leadership, this is legitimately the most disjointed executive leadership team I've ever seen and it’s not close. There’s a clear disconnect between executives and the broader team, with a heavy tendency to delegate without context, guidance, or accountability. Even more concerning, I personally witnessed multiple members of the ELT openly yell at employees and was even on the receiving end of a verbal lashing myself. It reflects a serious lack of emotional intelligence and creates a culture where people feel undervalued and on edge. All of the above doesn't even take the recent merger into consideration - RIFs are absolutely on the horizon, yet again, and it is clear that nobody’s job is safe. All in all, Thoma Bravo has no soul - shocker. They don't care about the employees actually putting in the work and they sure as hell don't care about your work-life balance. Unfortunately, the majority of the Executive leadership they’ve hired also shares this toxicity, so everything negative rolls perpetually downhill. If you're in the lower ranks, you may have a poor Director shield you from the blows, but if you're in any managerial role whatsoever, you will absolutely feel the pain. Hands down the worst company I've ever worked for - do not apply.
