Pros

Peers are on your side Certain teams have great culture/support Unlimited PTO

Cons

Upper leadership’s goals are out of touch with reality Poor communication between teams Unlimited PTO isn’t really helpful if time off isn’t going to be approved (specific to support teams)

Pros

Beautiful Austin office location (spent $10M on the new office). Auctane rose when an investment firm bought the parent company, Stamps.com. The old CEO left and the Auctane CEO became the new parent company CEO. Then they changed the whole company name to Auctane. There are a lot of nice and capable people here at the whole global company.

Cons

Upper management is very arrogant. They read a lot of books and espouse all the key points without actually living them. They think they know it all and do not care about the line level employee. They promote people without experience but rather on proximity to the executive team. Preferential treatment is given to the legacy Auctane/ShipStation team regardless of qualification. This has led to a whole team of poorly qualified people. This doesn't mean they're all bad. They just don't know what they don't know. In some cases, they don't care to know. They speak well and sell the company as people oriented but they aren't. They shift directions over and over. They believe in an agile environment and management style which is code for "chaos". The turnover was high but has gotten higher. Apparently, they planned for 30% attrition after the acquisition but rather than lay people off, they take portions of the job away and ignore them until they quit. They do not value independent thought or diversity of opinion. Everyone knows this. Speaking of diversity, there is no diversity at the exec level. It's mostly white men and a few white females. At a town hall meeting, the new CEO called Black History Month a "controversial" topic. He also said he understands people want to be hybrid but that they should live closer to the Austin office (some of us can't afford that).
