Pros

Some really good people that care about their work but most are leaving by the truckload. If you can play along and pretend your manager is the best thing since sliced bread you'll advance quickly.

Cons

HR is as unprofessional as I've ever seen. Senior leadership spends time arguing over expense allocations to make their own dept look good and never get involved in operational issues. Little support for employees trying to solve customer issues. Have to go to meetings about reviews and team building but never really had an annual review or saw real team building. Benefits went from great to subpar while I was there. Cubes are only 4' high, no ability to concentrate at your desk. Had to work extra hours almost every evening at home so I could focus. Senior management treats employees with disdain and provides nearly no support. There are literally employees crying at their desks on any given day.

Pros

Great people. I feel humbled and honored to have had the privilege of getting to know some of the people I worked with there.

Cons

Worked there for 4 years, had 3 different managers. Gotta love stability, right?

Client-facing HR

Pros

There are such a variety of clients and situations that you really learn about every area of HR right off the bat. This is a great position for building your HR knowledge base, and you can become quite the knowledgeable professional in short order. You also have a lot of control over your time and how you manage your clients.

Cons

The company is of a size where there is little formal training. This is being addressed, but a more robust training program would help. Since this is a client-facing position, you are sometimes put in the position to take the fall for something that isn't your fault. That can be difficult to manage.
