The Kids are great! Some coworkers are supportive

Cons

Unrealistic workload, I had to support, plan and deliver curriculum for students in 5 grade levels for all subjects. Because of student behaviors I did not recieve my legally required breaks or lunches. Behavior specialists and Special Education leadership will do everything they can to say you don’t need help if you ask for it. They are there to cover the districts A** not help you

Pros

The pay is okay for someone who works in non profit mental health. They also offer stipends if you’re bilingual or work in the special education department. The time off is great.

Cons

Leadership isn’t great. There are constant changes and no one seems to be on the same page. The benefits are standard. Insurance premiums and co pays are high. They don’t seem to care much for your professional growth at least in my department. My team doesn’t even get sent to the Austin school social work conference.

Cons

This job asks a lot from you. You can give everything to it, but still not give enough. Demanding hours, tough to close the laptop and transition back to real life.
