Pros

Good benefits Great location downtown District technology is good, helpdesk is much better than other government sites

Cons

Difficult commute Culture of blame and shoot the messenger We don't learn from our mistakes Department leaders squabble a lot and keep solutions from working if it wasn't theirs. Nothing's better than something in these cases Parking is terrible Severely declining student population Finances of the district are millions of dollars lower than reality, don't believe the balance sheet Not enough substitutes for us at the schools

Pros

Friendly environment, many opportunities to learn, large organization where one can move into different areas.

Cons

Not very stimulating, many staff members seemed to be waiting for retirement. Turnover among leaders created confusion and negatively affected morale. Also, they don't use standard PM practices and frameworks.

Like most school districts, good and bad, but highly dependent on school

Pros

Regular reviews, technology seems to be going in the right direction. Lots of successful campuses, new teachers coming in are enthusiastic and well qualified. Yearly opportunities to transfer to other district jobs. Decent PD and good support for advancement. You will be given leadership opportunities if you want them and can handle them!

Cons

If you work at a bad campus, with dead wood teachers who don't "get" technology and a not-so-hot principal, it could be very bad. Get reviews on the school you are applying to. Pay is on the low side compared to surrounding districts.
