Pros

Teachers and administration in this district work hard and take pride in what they do. All of the schools seem very well funded. Lots of programs, lots of specialists, lots of intervention.

Cons

The current superintendent's ideas about student discipline and the removal system is misguided. She calls the alternatives schools "pipelines to prison" as if the alternative schools are leading children to a lifetime of incarceration.

Pros

Austin is a great, vibrant city of young professionals and creative types. With smart folks everywhere, there is a sense that things could turn around in the schools.

Cons

However, the size of the district prevents nimble decision making that allows for appropriate actions to take place.
