Pros

The main reason to work here is pretty good benefits and job security. Restaurants always come and go, dishwashers always stay.

Cons

Low pay if you are in the IT industry. (but higher job security here) My manager was a micromanager. I couldn't send an email without him being copied on it which is a waste of everyone's time. He made "standard processes" for everything which is a good thing, but I spend about 4 hours a day doing "process" and 4 hours a day actually working. He was a perfectionist and if something didn't fit into his idea of how things should be done he couldn't handle it. He was a really smart guy and knew what he was doing but he did not know how to let go and actually let employees work. I had about 2 hours of meetings every day to discuss what we were working on. If I could have had those 2 hours to work everyday then a lot more would have been finished. He motivated us by threatening us with our jobs and bullied us into working unpaid overtime. When upper management was finally informed of this they corrected the issues that they had to legally fix (cover your a** because there's a potential lawsuit about to happen) and they talked to my boss about what he could not do. But by that time it was too late, everyone in the department no longer cared. We no longer cared about the quality of our work or being responsible for it. No one was happy, but everyone was stuck for one reason or another. I hope they all find the courage to find something better and realize that they can be respected at other companies. My boss is a great worker and problem solver, but he's a terrible manager and perfectionist. Working on new software cannot take as long as it did here. You have to start with something that works and add enhancements later. Everything always followed best practices for software development, but sometimes you should create something quicker in half the time then trying to perfect everything. 3 year projects do not work in any industry, we weren't building the new playstation.

Pros

-Little micromanagement -Get to meet a lot of different people -Decent variety and quality of products to sell -Good benefits -plenty of overtime -Seeing how nasty many restaurants are -On your own most of the day -relatively flexible schedule

Cons

-Plenty of overtime (50-70 hour weeks. Add 10-20 hours if on call) -On call -Poor technical training -No pay raises -Expect good paying routes to be chopped up to subsidize the lesser ones, all for the sake of paying new employees more because they can’t keep people. -Next promotion for an SSR is to a Route Manager which essentially is ‘utility’ guy and SSR with more paperwork, hours, and headaches. The job description is rarely what the job actually is because the branches are constantly losing drivers whose routes need covered. -Cumbersome executive management limits both the branch managers and regionals abilities to service customers properly. -boasts a mission statement desiring to be the best service company, but there pay structure promotes sales above service. -SSRs have no motivation to help cover other routes. Most are busy enough and they don’t get paid off any of the sales. -When a branch needs a new vehicle it can take more than a year. -DOT regulations along with the demands of the job can make it easy for a strict inspector to slap a $10,000 fine on an SSR.
