      Pros

      Growing, stable company. Fortune 500, good reputation. Lots of friendly faces and awesome co-workers. Lots of opportunities to work in different parts of the country.

      Cons

      Salary is not competitive. We are constantly told that our compensation is a 'package' which includes bonuses and benefits...every Fortune 500 company's compensation includes bonuses and commissions. Upper management is very slow to adapt and change. Has the feel of a 'boys club'. Men are promoted to management positions from hourly staff positions while women have to climb their way up the corporate ladder one painstaking inch at a time. in the division I work in, the women are held to a higher standard for the same title. In the division I work in, the interviewing process is really long. 3-6 months between submitting an application and getting a job offer.

      Pros

      You receive extensive training, and are given tons of resources to help you find information you need to do your job well. The team mentality is helpful because you can ask any of your peers for assistance as needed. There is direction, but not micromanagement. The benefits are great.

      Cons

      You're more likely to advance if you are active in insurance studies (not necessarily a bad thing, just additional work) and if you are willing to potentially relocate rather than waiting for a higher position in your branch to open up. Some of the tech is a little behind but they are working on updates.

      Pros

      Hours are great, being able to work an earlier shift and not get caught on the typical Lansing rush hour.

      Cons

      Shirt and ties all the time. Casual days would be nice, but currently not an option. Starting out on time sheets.
