More Cons than Pros in past 5 years

Pros

Somewhat flexible schedule that offers remote work. Ok pay and benefits.

Cons

Used to have a good culture that cared for employees. Now it's all about bottom line. Feel more like a number than a person. Company keeps looking at ways to reduce staff onsite while stacking up the workload on what little is left. Keep promoting technology will solve less staff but they are always behind on technology compared to others and puts burden on existing staff to figure it out and deal with it. Growth opportunities have shrunk and pay does not equate to work put in. They say we are growing as a company but pass up deals all the time because they claim it was too expensive. They promote employees to speak up and be candid, yet when you do it's frowned upon. Company does a great job of fostering and coddling sensitive employees who have a very misguided belief in where they think they are in their career path. Don't tell an employee they are not ready for the next step cause they go crying to HR and then you are the bad person. What a joke this company has become.

Thank you for providing feedback. We understand that no company is perfect and we work hard to make sure that our associates are happy. The changes we have implemented over the last few years are designed to provide more flexibility for our customers and our associates. However, we also know that it may take some time for everything and everyone to adjust. There have definitely been some challenges and we never want our associates to feel stressed about changes. It would be helpful to discuss with you further, as you are a valued long-term associate. If you are comfortable, please contact avalonbayhumanresources@avalonbay.com.

Pros

No pros to list as of these days with new management and old management at one point had a spine and took care of the workers but now they don’t.

Cons

Too many cons to list, one of them being pay is dismal, room for improvement to move up in the company is almost non existent. Turn over is rampant. Management is is a 2 out of 10, being forced to work outside of your job description is pretty much forced upon. A new neighbor pilot now has us working at other properties and not getting paid for our time and travel. When a company actively looks for loops holes to benefit for themselves, it’s bad for us workers.

We hope that you continue to provide feedback to your supervisor or HR Manager to discuss the impacts of the changes.

Pros

The overall atmosphere and the coworkers who sit beside you are amazing. They do a lot of things for charity and giving back.

Cons

However, AVB does pay lower then what other call centers in the area pay. Most of the employees do not make over 40k a year. They are hiring new people to work from home but will not give the employees who have been there the same option. There is no organization with policies. You don’t know when one exist until they are telling you that you cannot do something or you violated one. It seems like they come out of thin air at their discretion and they pick and choose who to apply those polices too. The job titles are a joke. You can be at a lower level and doing the same exact work as someone who is at a higher level and getting paid more. Nobody cares as long as the work is done.

Thank you for your review, we appreciate your input and the opportunity it provides to offer more clarity. AvalonBay bases its pay on a number of factors, including local living wage guidelines, individual performance, experience level, and job responsibilities. Associates are also able to take advantage of frequent promotions and pay increases through our Career Ladder program. At entry levels, this can occur as quickly as 6 months and, at higher levels, as frequently as once a year. This provides our associates with the potential to increase their pay fairly rapidly. With respect to telecommuting, we have received positive feedback from our associates about our hybrid work model in which associates have the flexibility to work from home certain days and come into the office other days. Any exceptions to this model follow a thorough and consistent review and approval process, most of which fall under our business continuity policy. While it’s disappointing to hear that you aren't satisfied, you are a valued associate and we would like to be able to address your concerns personally. Should you want to have a discussion, please contact us at avalonbayhumanresources@avalonbay.com.
