Not worth the stress

Pros

Working here made my heart happy and fulfilled. A few residents were sweet and nice to work with.

Cons

It was SOOO stressful! My own health deteriorated as a result to helping others lead an okay life. Residents pushed their call button when they wanted a friend. My job was active (18,000-20,000 steps in 8 hours). We VERY rarely took required breaks. I quit when it was too much stress and I ended up in the hospital. I was tracking my steps and weight and I lost over 50 pounds in about 4 months. Because I was putting out more energy than I was able to bring in.

Pros

It's rewarding to work with the geriatric population. As for pros specific to Avamere, I honestly cannot think of any.

Cons

Overworked. Can't clock out for lunch breaks without residents not getting cared for/receiving meds on time. Unprofessional staff and coworkers. Terrible pay. Unhealthy work environment.
